Covered Bridge Golf Course in Southern Indiana is a perfect wedding venue. An amazing view, indoor and outdoor space with a beautiful ceremony backdrop. One of our favorites.
The Four Roses Bourbon Barrel Loft located on the 3rd floor of the BBC in downtown Louisville is a bourbon lovers venue with a laid-back feel. The windows overlooking 3rd street as well as the wood floors and bourbon barrels make this a favorite.
Visiting Kentuckiana's venues is one of the perks of our job. We'll be posting photos and highlighting venues we visit. Our first post features Red Orchard Barn in Shelbyville, KY. This is an awesome rustic barn venue. Keep in mind there is no heat or a/c. This is a do-it-yourself venue.
I've come to realize that family functions come second to cake. This doesn't make me happy. It's the nature of the beast.
Doing large wedding cakes for family members actually caused me missing the ceremony of one and missing the 'bride's day getting ready' of another.
I plan and prepare and think I have a timeline under control only to find I didn't budget nearly enough time. It's not as if you can do cakes ahead of time.
I believe it's come to "me or the cake". If you want me at the function in good form, don't ask me to do the cake.
I imagine many a baker has experienced this and probably come to this same conclusion LOL.
When the tablescape is dreamy, the simplest cupcakes are perfect! This wedding tablescape has assorted plates and stands supplied by the baker. Candleholders and candles by the bride and fresh flowers from the florist. The photos really don't do it justice. Standing in front of this table was heaven!!
Making art from food can be quite challenging. The medium changes for many reasons and keeps us on our toes. The temperature, the humidity, the product your used to either not being available or changing, and on and on. Taking the time to tweek and re-do can take valuable time a baker doesn't have. But it is this extra time that makes us successful and popular and known. One of this past weekend's buttercream wedding cakes is proof of how working until its perfect pays off. I'll post this photo in the kitchen as a reminder that working long hours pays off
