I've come to realize that family functions come second to cake. This doesn't make me happy. It's the nature of the beast.
Doing large wedding cakes for family members actually caused me missing the ceremony of one and missing the 'bride's day getting ready' of another.
I plan and prepare and think I have a timeline under control only to find I didn't budget nearly enough time. It's not as if you can do cakes ahead of time.
I believe it's come to "me or the cake". If you want me at the function in good form, don't ask me to do the cake.
I imagine many a baker has experienced this and probably come to this same conclusion LOL.
